DEARBORN, Mich. (WJBK) - A woman is in custody after the FBI believes she robbed multiple banks across metro Detroit.

Authorities say Chery Farnsworth robbed eight banks from January 29 - April 14. The banks were located in Garden City, Taylor, Dearborn Heights, Lincoln Park, Melvindale and Dearborn.

She usually wears a hooded sweatshirt, a scarf and sunglasses, as she is seen in surveillance photo from the most recent robbery at the PNC Bank in Dearborn.

Authorities say she usually passes a note to the tellers, saying something like, "This is a robbery. Got 10 seconds. Do nothing Stupid - black man is armed outside," or, "This is an armed robbery. You have 10 seconds. There is a black man outside with a gun. Do nothing stupid. -please he's crazy. No cops."

A tip on her identity and her license place number led police to her. She was pulled over and arrested for not having a valid driver's license.

When asked if she had bond money she said she had $800, which was linked to the bank robbery the day before.

Authorities are unsure at this time if the accomplice mentioned in her notes is real and continue to investigate.
