Boyfriend, girlfriend charged after 4 killed in I-94 crash

DETROIT (WJBK) - Authorities have filed multiple murder charges against a woman and her boyfriend whose argument led to a high speed chase and an expressway crash that killed four people in Detroit on Sept. 22, 2013.

Prosecutors say 24-year-old JeQuis Mayes drove off with three other women in her vehicle after getting into a verbal argument with her boyfriend, Erroll Milliner, 28. Milliner then took off after her in his vehicle.

Both are said to have been speeding.

Then, Mayes failed to stop at a stop sign, crashing through a fence. Her car went airborne, landing on a Ford traveling eastbound along I-94. Three people were inside the Ford.

All of the passengers in Mayes' vehicle were treated. One passenger died at the hospital, 20-year-old Dkeya Hodges of Detroit.

All three people traveling in the Ford were also killed. They have been identified as Jimmie Barnett, 71; Angie Battle, 52; and Rosie Glenn, 66. All were from Detroit.

Milliner also failed to stop at the stop sign after Mayes, and crashed along the side of the road.

Mayes and Milliner have both been charged with four counts of Second Degree Murder; four counts of Manslaughter with a Motor Vehicle; and four counts of Operating While Impaired Causing Death. Milliner has also been charged with four counts of Driving with License Suspended Causing Death.

Prosecutors say Mayes and Milliner were being arraigned Friday in Romulus District Court. It's unknown if they have lawyers.
