Benefit for family of Canton student hit by car

Canton, Mich. (WJBK) - A benefit dinner is being held for the nine year old girl who was hit and killed by car in Canton.

It happened April 14, during student drop off at Ericksson Elementary.

Police believe the second grader got out of the car, then tried to get back in, as her mother was pulling away.

The little girl suffered facial injuries and was taken to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.

A spaghetti benefit dinner will be held tonight at the Holiday Inn Express, where the girl's mother works as a housekeeper.
