Baby Birds Found Nested Inside Plane’s Wing

Forget about "Snakes on a Plane, "wildlife officials in Florida came to the aid of some baby birds who made their home in the wing of a plane.

FOX's Brandon Beyer has the story.

Workers at an airplane repair company at one South Florida airport came across a couple of young birds nested inside a plane's wing.

The two chicks were found in an airplane at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport Tuesday. "They said that they found these birds in a plane, and you know I told them to put them in a box," Cindy Lisi told WSVN.

The newborns may have never grown to their full potentials had it not been for the crew workers that discovered them in their nest, placed deep within the wing.

It is common to find baby birds inside of a plane during routine maintenance and safety checks. When parked outside, the planes' flaps are down, which leaves a big opening for older birds to place their young inside.

Due to the young nature of the birds and the dependence on food and care, they have since been moved to the South Florida Wildlife Center in Fort Lauderdale, where they were removed from their temporary boxed home and placed in proper care for attention.

"We try to re-nest and reunite whenever possible," said Sherry Schlueter of the Wildlife Center, "not bring babies into the center, but because the parents weren't seen by the concerned citizens, the birds have come here to be checked out."

Though it will not be coming from their mother, the babies will be fed.
