Alleged Domestic Duck Attack Leads to $275K Lawsuit

Posted: Updated:
Estacada, OR- A woman in Oregon has slapped a homeowner with a $275,000 lawsuit in which she claims she was attacked by a duck in 2012.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, says she stepped out of her home in Estacada, and her neighbor's duck ran towards her acting aggressive by flapping its wings which startled her.

According to the woman, she fell backwards on her wrist, severely breaking it to the point of needing surgery.

Her attorney says while a duck attack may sound a little funny there's nothing amusing about the end result.

"I can tell you that when she first contacted me, we both shared a laugh at the circumstances around the accident, but unfortunately the injury was pretty serious. As you can imagine, everything you do with your dominant hand, from typing to drinking coffee to personal hygiene to eating is affected by that," said attorney Greg Price.

The defense attorney says because his client's medical care is ongoing, they're not sure exactly what amount they'll need to cover the medical bills.

The lawsuit says that so far medical costs have cost the woman $25,000.
