Fans Brawl at Flyers-Rangers Game

While the Flyers get ready for Game 7 at Madison Square Garden what happened in the stands during Game 6 continues to make headlines.

Chris DeFrancisco shot video of Flyers fans pummeling a few Rangers fans sitting in Section 209 near the end of the game six victory.

Several witnesses to the brawl say the blue jerseys provoked the whole thing.

"They were cursing and getting out of hand the whole game trying to get under flyers fans skin." Matt Cocci said.

Matt Cocci says Wells Fargo Center security asked them to leave, and they became even more belligerent.

"The guy who was pretty much talking the whole time refused to leave his seat when they asked, started flailing his arms around, punched a Flyers fan by mistake, and I guess that's what started the brawl,” he said.

Another witness says several of the security guards could not get to the center of the aisle to stop the melee.

A spokesperson for Comcast-Spectacor says fan safety is their top priority.

"Let the players play the game. Leave the rooting to the fans. We don't need the fans to take it upon themselves to change the way the game is played," said Comcast-Spectacor spokesperson, Ike Richman.

This fight marks the latest chapter of unruly fans pitted against each other in this bitter rivalry.

Just two years ago, Flyers fans badly beat down a pair of Rangers fans outside Geno's.

This time, the ones sporting orange and black insist this wasn't their fault.

"I don't think anyone deserves to get a beat down, but these Rangers fans were cursing and screaming the whole game and I guess everybody just got tired of it," Cocci said.

Several people were escorted out of the arena last night, but no one was arrested or charged for their role in the fight.

If the Flyers advance, there will be no changes to security in a potential series with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
