Muslims and Sikhs Turned Away From Amusement Park

Posted: Updated:
"We have a much loved business that is an amusement park and everyone should enjoy what they have to offer,” states Dr. Masood Cajee.

Dr. Masood Cajee, a board member with the Muslim organization "Cair" says certain groups haven't been able to ride the rides at Boomers! amusement park because of their clothing policy.

Cajee explains, “whether it's Sikhs turbans or Muslims wearing headscarves or skill cabs on some of their rides."

Cair says they know of at least half a dozen people who have been turned away from the ride in the last year and they're taking action.

The organization has filed three complaints with the department of fair employment and housing in the last month.

Cajee says there are rides at other places that are potentially more dangerous, where people can wear headscarves and turbans.

"There are other amusement parks like Disneyland and six flags where this is no problem,” claims Cajee.

Boomers! says the issue is about safety.

In a statement they say, "safety is our number one priority.  This is not a matter of race or religion.  This is a matter of safety."

Boomers! says riders are sitting directly in front of the motor and there are many moving parts.

Cajee says he just hopes everyone people in his community will be able to go to Boomers! and enjoy the rides like everyone else.
