Lawmaker checks in on Rep. Olumba's living situation

Posted: Updated:
(WJBK) - The state constitution says when a lawmaker abandons his district, he is no longer eligible to serve in the state House. So, where does that leave Representative John Olumba?

After FOX 2 Problem Solver M.L. Elrick caught the Detroit lawmaker living outside his district, Olumba admitted that he moved his family across town but had said he still sleeps in his old neighborhood.

Now, Elrick goes one-on-one with the man charged with keeping lawmakers in line, Rep. Jase Bolger. He says he doesn't have enough proof that Olumba is living outside his district to get him removed from office.

He also says another representative would have to complain for the House to take action against Olumba.

Elrick also speaks with constitutional law attorney Robert Sedler, who suggests another option to oust Olumba.
