Maricopa County jail escapee back in custody

PHOENIX - The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says a female inmate who escaped is now back in custody.

According to MCSO, 32-year-old Roberta Gavina walked out of the Lower Buckeye Jail in Phoenix on Thursday before she was to be taken to a Glendale court for an appearance on shoplifting charges.

Deputies say she was taken into custody Friday morning by detectives.  Gavina was located Friday morning at the home of her boyfriend's aunt near 52nd Avenue and Camelback Road.

Gavina, who was facing misdemeanor charges, is now facing felony 2nd degree escape charges and will be booked into the 4th Avenue Jail.
