Oh boy, the anti-Granholm mob will have fun with this.  They are talking in California about running the former Michigan governor for something as part of the “new generation” of D’s on the west bank.

Can a radio talk-jock launch a bid for the White House from a radio studio in the nation's capitol?

With the possible help of Mike Rogers, we might be able to answer that question down the road.

By now you know that the veteran Mid-Michigan Congress-guy is leaving his day job for another shot at anchoring a radio broadcast.

His first attempt in college was "a disaster" he laughs while the folks at Cumulus Broadcasting are betting he can do better starting in January with a three-hour daily offering of "smart controversy" as he pegs it.

That is a polite way of saying the current chair of the House Intelligence committee will not be "tossing bombs" at his projected radio audience that he hopes is hungry for something a little different on the radio dial

"I'm not competing with Rush Limbaugh," Mr. Rogers asserts as he thinks about his "info-tainment" format that will feature former spies and government intelligence insiders as he seeks to capitalize on the popularity of the spy-genre on the tube.

He does not have a short-term contract so he will have a long-term chance to see if he can nail down a radio nitch that so far has not worked for anybody else.

If he does it could make a natural and powerful launching pad for a White House bid.

Is he in?

Asked about running for president, he lapsed into his joking persona with "of what?  Moldova?"

Rim shot.

But getting serious he clearly leaves the 2016 door open.

"I do think I leave the opportunity open to come back in some capacity in public service," he carefully picks his words..."you never say never," he adds.

However can he use the radio to run for president?

Obviously having thought about this, his answer is a good one:  "It worked for Ronald Reagan."  Indeed it did.
