Four People Found Dead In Pomona Home

Pomona, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) A man allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, her brother and mother at a home in Pomona and then turned the gun on himself, authorities said today.

The bodies were discovered in the 2100 block of Ramsey Way, coroner's Chief Craig Harvey said. The shootings occurred late Thursday, according to reports from the scene.

The dead were described as a woman of about 52, her 24-year-old daughter, her 17-year-old son, and the younger woman's 28-year-old boyfriend, according to police and the coroner's office. Their names were withheld, pending notification of their relatives.

Officers went to the house after the man called relatives of the victims and said he was going to harm the family, police said. His body was found at the foot of his girlfriend's bed.

From Gigi Graciette:

"I know they're in heaven looking down at us and I just want them to know that I love them very much", says April Mejia thru tears.

She is talking about her mother, sister and brother - all killed last night by her sister's boyfriend, say police, in a case of murder-suicide.

As we speak, I can see she is staring at the Coroner's van and the gurneys that are parked outside her mother Manuela's front door.

I silently hope she doesn't see her loved one's bodies being wheeled out. No one should see their mother on a coroner's gurney, even if it will be covered. Sadly, I know firsthand how painful that is.

Meanwhile, crime scene investigators are still inside the neat little home with the well-manicured lawn on Ramsey Drive.

Meticulously documenting, reconstructing the last moments in the lives of the four people who only hours ago lived here; died here.

Police believe that the killer walked into into his victim's small bedrooms, pointed a gun at them and fired, point blank.

And one by one, they died right there.

And while police haven't released the victim's names, April tells us all about her mother Manuela Padilla. "She was a hard worker, a strong woman. And I loved her so much."

Mrs. Padilla was found inside her bed and may have been asleep when death came walking up in the persona of her daughter's live-in boyfriend.

In a room next door, police say it appeared her 17 year old son - April's brother Johnny - had been standing when he was shot dead.

And in a third bedroom, April's 25 year old sister Mariana also appeared to have been standing when her boyfriend shot her dead.

At the foot of her bed, not far from her body, the 28 year old triple murderer then took his own life, police say.

And just like that four people were dead.

And a part of April died too.

"Why does someone do that?", a neighbor asked me off camera, not really expecting an answer.

We're both staring at the front of the house, where police detectives are going in and out.

But my attention is focused on the flowers in the front yard. There are many growing beautifully; well- tended. The grass is bright green and freshly mowed. The trim on the windows is bright and appears to be freshly painted.

It's a neat little home and clearly shows Manuela's pride in ownership.

"She worked so hard", said the same woman as if reading my mind. "She worked so hard for her family and for that house. Why would he do this?"

For now, there are no clear answers says Lieutenant Mike Keltner of the Pomona Police Department.

April said there were no signs of the horror that was to unfold. "I would have done something, said something", she says. "I knew my sister wanted to break up with him", referring to the killer, "But no one thought something like this would ever happen."
