Sunday morning - 4 am - Louis Dean hears 4 gunshots outside his window. His next door neighbor Fabriana Lamm says they were real loud “like really four explosions. One after the other.”
Three of those bullets hit 19-year-old Julian Archer who was behind the wheel of a small white car on the eastbound lane of Mayall at Corbin. He was critically injured. He had just dropped his prom date off at a nearby home.
To Lamm “It’s very sad. I just can’t stop thinking about this kid.” She also thought it was awful for something like this to happen on Mothers Day.
Police aren’’t saying much, but neighbors say Archer’s car was moving eastbound down Mayall. DeZan says police at the scene were theorizing Archer pulled to the stop light and That’s when someone fired into the passenger window, pushing glass out of the driver’s side onto the street. Archer manages to get across the intersection. “The car crashed on the other side of the street," says Lamm.
Nelson Vargues owns Boulevard Auto. For the last few months Archer has worked for him. Vargues calls the 19-year-old "A terrific kid" who " working for us for a few months. He was working part time while trying to go to school.”
Vargues says "I’m really sad to see this happen to him. He didn’t deserve this."
As of this writing Julian Archer remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
