FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -
A homework assignment has one Fulton County mother furious and demanding answers.
Zakia Coleman was shocked when she read words such as 'weed' and 'joint' in her son's 'drug awareness' assignment.
Her son, 8, is a third grade student at Cleveland Avenue Elementary School.
"When I saw the word marijuana I just thought it was completely inappropriate. He didn't even know how to pronounce it, he didn't know what it was," said Coleman.
Coleman tells FOX 5 she supports drug awareness, but this assignment is too graphic for a third grader. She said school officials should have prepared parents before sending children home with that kind of work.
FOX 5's Nathalie Pozo reached out to Atlanta Public Schools and they said they are investigating the situation.
