Man in custody for fatally shooting active Air Force Sergeant

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -- Authorities have arrested a 19-year-old man who is suspected of fatally shooting his mother's fiance Tuesday morning, who is an active Air Force Sergeant.

Detroit Police say the shooting happened around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at a home on Woodhall Street on Detroit's east side.

We're told an argument broke out between the suspect and Johnny Clyburn. The argument escalated and authorities say the suspect shot and killed Clyburn. Authorities believe the suspect also shot his own mother, who remains in temporary serious condition.

Police tell FOX 2's Randy Wimbley that the suspect was living in Clyburn's home because the suspect did not want to live with his biological father.

Police also say the suspect, whose name has not been released, has a history of mental and medical conditions that may have contributed to the situation.
