Copycat philanthropist hides money in DC area - and FOX 5 reporter finds it!

WASHINGTON - UPDATE - FOX 5's Melanie Alnwick found the hidden cash-- but what did she do with it?  Click here to read her blog and find out!

A few days ago, we told you about @hiddencash, an anonymous philanthropist who is hiding $100 bills around the San Francisco bay area and tweeting out clues about where people can find the cash.  Now, someone in the D.C. area is doing the same thing.
The anonymous person has been tweeting under from @IHidTheCash, and has posted messages indicating they were inspired by the San Francisco philanthropist.  On Thursday morning, they tweeted another clue-- and another, and another.  Those clues led to northwest D.C.-- along a street very close to the FOX 5 studios!

FOX 5 reporter Melanie Alnwick happened to be on her way back to the station from a story, and she and her photographer followed the trail.  After a little deciphering-- Alnwick stumbled on a trash can-- and found $25 in cash and a note underneath it!  (CLICK ON THE VIDEO ABOVE TO WATCH HER TELL THE WHOLE STORY)

A note with the money said the following:
Hi!
Buy yourself a coffee & bagel
Then, consider buying one for someone who can't afford it
Use this platform to do good, and encourage others to do good!
Just tweet where/when you found this!
#Ihidthecash

*A belated thank you to our soldiers!

So what did she do with the found $25?  Alnwick knew all along she would pay it forward-- and she even said on the air that she'd skip the bagel and coffee  and donate it all to someone in need.  But who?  She blogged about her decision, and her story will make you smile:

"Funny thing about having money to give -- I felt a huge responsibility to faithfully honor @ihidthecash's wishes.  I needed to do this right.

I thought about a journal entry I wrote last December -- and immediately knew what to do."
