PHOENIX (AP) - A man who fired at a Chandler police officer last year has been found guilty of attempted second-degree murder.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 51-year-old Steven Ramirez Hernandez also was convicted of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct with a firearm, endangerment and misconduct involving weapons.

Jurors also found aggravating circumstances of the crime following a two-week trial.

Hernandez is scheduled to be sentenced on June 24 and could face as many as 99 years in prison.

Authorities say Hernandez went to the Chandler Regional Hospital armed with a handgun and got into a confrontation with his daughter's boyfriend in the hospital nursery on May 8, 2013.

Police were called and a responding officer was shot at by Hernandez.

They say the officer wasn't hit and fired back, wounding Hernandez in the arm.
