WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich (WJBK) -- The lockdown at a West Bloomfield elementary school has been lifted after an alleged early morning assault.

The lockdown at Sheiko Elementary, located Walnut Lake Road near Orchard Lake Road, was lifted at 10 a.m.

Police say before school started Thursday, a female janitor was assaulted in the school by her ex-boyfriend. The suspect fled on foot with another person and was later located. The 28-year-old man is currently in police custody.

The students were not in the school at the time of the alleged assault Thursday morning. When students arrived they were immediately transported to the high school.

The janitor suffered only minor injuries.

A police presence remained at the school all day Thursday.
