Sparks rout Sky 102-88

ROSEMONT, Ill. (Associated Press) - Nneka Ogwumike and Kristi Toliver scored 18 points each to lead the Los Angeles Sparks to a 102-88 victory over the Chicago Sky on Friday night.

Candace Parker added 17 points for the Sparks (3-3), who snapped a two-game losing streak and set franchise records for field goals made (43) and assists (31).

Parker, the reigning WNBA MVP who is averaging 22.2 points per game, did not start because of a left ankle injury. She entered the game 6 minutes into the first quarter.

Elena Delle Donne, the reigning WNBA rookie of the year, had a career-high 33 points and 14 rebounds for the Sky, who hadn't played in a week and suffered their biggest loss of the season.

Tamera Young added 15 points and Jamierra Faulkner had 13 for Chicago.

The Sparks shot 56 percent from the field to the Sky's 45 percent. Los Angeles had 10 turnovers while Chicago committed 17.

The Sparks set a franchise record for points in a half in taking a 61-44 lead. The Sky were holding opponents to 72.3 points per game and 43.4 percent shooting.

Ogwumike led the Sparks with 16 points in the first half while Delle Donne had 22.

The Sky scored the first six points of the third quarter but were unable to cut the lead to single digits. The Sparks led 81-62 entering the final quarter.

Los Angeles opened the game with a 10-3 run and led 32-21 at the end of the first quarter after shooting 63.6 percent.

The Sky were 24 of 26 from the free-throw line while the Sparks were 13 of 18.

The Sparks improved to 12-5 all-time against the Sky.
