Video: Another car stolen from dealership in broad daylight

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) - A man goes to a Detroit car dealership, picked out the car he wants and drives off. The problem is, though, he didn't leave a down payment.

A brazen car theft in broad daylight was caught on surveillance video.

It happened about 1 p.m. Tuesday. The man wearing a tan shirt was walking with a cane on the lot of C&M Auto Sales on Livernois near Michigan Avenue. He was browsing the lot and talking to a salesperson as if he was interested in buying a car.

Earlier, an employee started a gray sedan up to charge the battery. The suspect then makes a beeline for the running car.

In the surveillance video, you see he passes it and appears to do a look around to make sure no one sees him.

He then jumps in and within about 17 seconds he was driving off the lot.

To make matters worse, the same dealership keeps getting hit by thieves.

Here's another theft from C&M Auto Sales in March of last year was also caught on surveillance video. A man pretended he wanted to buy a Chevy Tahoe.

Instead of buying it, he jumped in and sped off.

The dealership owner hopes the video from this last theft will lead them to the suspect. The stolen car is a gray 2006 Mercury Milan.
