Detroit man arrested after kidnapping date

DETROIT/FERNDALE, Mich. (WJBK) -- A Detroit man faces felony charges after allegedly kidnapping a woman on a date Wednesday.

Jeffrey Jackson, 21, was armed when police came to a gas station in Ferndale to rescue a woman who was being against her will.  He is facing felony charges stemming from the incident and is expected to be arraigned Friday morning.

The 21-year-old victim told police she and Jackson had been dating for a few weeks.  All started well, when they got together on Tuesday afternoon, but the victim says Jackson started drinking and acting irrationally.

The two went to a liquor store where Jackson got in a fight with a clerk and produced a handgun.  Police say he fired a shot as he left the store and became physically and verbally abusive to the victim.

She drove him to his home, where she thought he was retrieving her belongings so she could go home.  He returned with her things and got back in the car.  He also had a shotgun.

Throughout the early morning hours he refused to let her go and threatened to kill her.

At one point, the two stopped at a gas station in Detroit, where the victim banged on the window and asked the clerk to call 911.  The clerk refused to call 911.

Jackson and the victim then went to the Citgo at 8 Mile Road and Pinecrest in Ferndale, Mich. to get gas.  Jackson forced the victim to go into the station to pay, where a clerk called 911.

She returned to the vehicle and locked Jackson out.  When the police arrived they arrested Jackson and recovered a shotgun from the vehicle.

Police later executed a search warrant at Jackson's home and recovered a .380 semi-automatic pistol, which was used in the earlier shooting at at liquor store.
