PHOENIX - Phoenix police are looking for a suspect who they say killed one person and injured another during a shooting at a park.

Police spokesman Trent Crump says the shooting happened Thursday around 8:15 p.m. at a park near 106th Avenue and Camelback Road.

Crump says 22-year-old Dershawn Stuard and a 14-year-old boy were playing basketball when a suspect approached. He's been identified as Jodon Martinez.

He says Stuard was pronounced dead at the scene and the boy suffered injuries that weren't life-threatening.
Martinez is described as a Hispanic male, 5'7" 140 lbs, he is a documented gang member and is considered armed and dangerous.

Police say Martinez had an on-going problem with the Stuard and the boy because they refused to join a gang.

If you have any information, you're asked to call Phoenix Police at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
