TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - The New Jersey legislative panel looking into lane closures near the George Washington Bridge wants to call 13 more witnesses, including the mayor of the town that was paralyzed by gridlock for four mornings.

The committee also wants to call Gov. Chris Christie's former chief counsel, Charlie McKenna, and his political strategist, Michael DuHaime. Other aides to Christie and officials at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the bridge, are also on the list.

The Associated Press obtained an internal committee list of those intended to be called. The names were first reported by The Record newspaper.

The committee is looking into whether Christie or his top aides had a role in closing the lanes in a political payback scheme.

For decades, making some quick cash was the main drive behind so many who took the ride down the parkway to Atlantic City. But with so much to choose from nowadays, it looks like Atlantic City is in a lot of trouble.
