A dog owner came forward saying the Gilbert boarding facility, where 20 dogs died a week ago, took her two dogs in that very morning.

She claims they never even told her about the deaths.

The woman FOX 10 spoke to said she left her two mastiff's at the facility last Friday around 10:30 in the morning. Just five hours after the other dogs were discovered dead.

Now she is asking why the facility would take in her pets after such a tragedy?

Molly and Daisy are both large english mastiffs. The pet's owner Kathy, who asked us to hide her identity, said when she dropped her dogs off at the Green Acre Boarding Facility, a home that doubles as a kennel, she thought everything was fine.

"She explained that she treated them just like family, I was like this is a great fit," she said.

But in truth the dogs were kept in a 10 x 10 foot room with other dogs.

Kathy said she never saw the room, and she said the facility owners never told her that 20 dogs died there just the day before from apparent heat exhaustion.

The facility owners told Maricopa County Sheriff's Deputies that a dog had chewed through an electrical cord shutting down the air conditioner.

"Disheartening, and sad, that tragic, that all of those dogs died in a small 10 x 10 room where they should never have been in the first place," she said.

The facility owners say they were on vacation in Florida when it happened. Their son in law, Austin Flake and his wife were charged with caring for the pets that Thursday night.

"They were careless; they took way too many dogs; they had no business housing 10, 20, 30 dogs in the facility," said Kathy.

Kathy said the facility misled her when she dropped off the dogs Friday morning. She thought no more than 10 dogs would be there and the dogs would be housed with the family, not in the small room.

"Thankful I didn't drop them off a day earlier, and they weren't there. But my heart goes out to all the pet owners that did lose their dogs because they trusted them like I did," said Kathy.
