There is a frantic game of "my list is bigger than your list" going on in this town as the two main combatants to become the next speaker of the Michigan House are trying to one-up each other.

LANSING, Mich. (WJBK) - Oh boy, the anti-Granholm mob will have fun with this.  They are talking in California about running the former Michigan governor for something as part of the “new generation” of D’s on the west bank.

The San Francisco Chronicle is the latest to join the “What-will-Granholm-do speculation as it runs a piece linking her with the “Hill” for a possible cabinet post.  (Haven’t we seen this movie before?)

And if the Hillary Clinton for President thing doesn’t work out, senior political writer Carla Marinucci notes that the west coast transplant Ms. Granholm graduated from San Carlos high school after spending part of her formative years in San Jose which apparently means something if she runs for something there.   That would make her only a half a carpetbagger since she abandoned that state to live in Michigan?

According to the story the Democratic Party out there is run by a bunch of old geezers including the governor at age 76 and two U.S. Senators clocking in at 76 and 73.

A professor at Standord University is quoted saying at some point the D’s are “going to have some openings.”  And since Ms. Granholm is living there, why not?

Another political operative Mary Hughes adds her two cents lumping the former governor in with Janet Napolitano who is running the University of California calling them “a pair of Democratic women with national and Bay Area bona fides.”

Ms. Marinucci gushes about the ex-Michigan chief executive noting she “has been adored by the party’s progressives since her speech” at the last Democratic Convention.

How could you forget it as she give it her all and then some in what critics described as an over the top performance on behalf of the incumbent President.  For those who know her it was vintage Granholm.

“She has since become a leading Democratic pundit, making regular appearances on the Sunday TV talk shows” and she is in on the ground floor of the Hillary for White House juggernaut, the writer writes.
Characteristically Ms. Granhom demurs, just as she did when mentioned for the U.S. Supreme court and other cabinet gigs in the first term of the Obama administration.

Her office issues a statement saying she hasn’t entertained any plans to run for office which is proof positive that she is interested, hey?
