Violent Night In North Philly Leaves 2 Dead, 2 Critical

Posted: Updated:

Three separate incidents in North Philadelphia have left two people dead and two others in critical condition, police say.

All of this unfolded during a 90-minute stretch, starting at 10:30 p.m.

The first victim is a woman who was shot in the head at Vernon Park, located at Germantown and Chelten avenues. At last report, detectives said she was in critical condition.

About 20 minutes later, police responded to the scene where a 53-year old man had been beaten with what was believed to be a tire iron in front of his own home.

Police were called the 2800 block of Fairhill Street just after 11 p.m. They say the victim was found in a pool of blood on the sidewalk.

He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police are searching for his attacker, who was seen running from the area with the metal object.

And a 37-year-old man is dead following a double shooting by a suspect riding a bicycle, also in the Fairhill neighborhood.

A second man, age 21, was listed in critical condition after multiple shots were fired along the 2900 block of Waterloo Street.

Police were called out just after midnight. They found 10 shell casings at the scene.

They are interviewing witnesses and say they hope private surveillance cameras spotted in the area will help them find the shooter.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley has more details in this video report.
