The Taste of Chicago festival was closed Saturday because of severe weather.
About noon, the city Office of Emergency Management said the festival would be closed because of “excessive rainfall and flooding on the festival grounds.”
According to the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, more than 2.5 inches of rain had fallen in the city as of 11 a.m.
Officials said the city would continue to assess weather to determine if conditions would affect the festival’s opening Sunday at 10 a.m.
The annual food and cultural festival is one of the city's premier summer events, drawing thousands of visitors to Grant Park.
It began Wednesday and runs through Sunday.
