It was one of the hottest sellers on a humid day at the Walgreens on Telegraph in Taylor -- fresh squeezed lemonade for fifty cents poured by a sweetheart of a girl for an amazing cause. This is the third year KC Maile has run this operation for Alex's Lemonade Stand which raises money for childhood cancer research. Her reason for doing it is short and sweet.

"I chose it because I like lemonade and it's a good thing do to," the girl told Fox 2.

It certainly is! The group was founded to honor the spirit of Alexandra Scott who died in 2004 at the age of 8 after battling childhood cancer. Stands like KC's have helped the group raise $80 million to fund 450 research projects. Her goal this year is to raise $1400 and she's getting close. At the time of our interview she was up to $1080!

"She's just very giving, this is what she does," said KC's mom.

A group of Taylor firefighters were among those who stopped by to support the cause. Walgreens allowed the stand because KC's mom works there. Her slogan is "Mix, Pour, Find a Cure!" and she's proving anyone of any age can do their part.
