A political flier mailed to DeKalb County voters has become the talk of the Sheriff’s runoff race.
Candidate Vernon Jones says he’s trying to distinguish himself as the choice of the common voter, but supporters say depicting interim Sheriff Jeffrey Mann as a puppet to white leaders is inappropriate.
Interim CEO Lee May and other elected officials who endorsed Mann Monday say the flier goes too far, playing up underlying racial tensions in the county.
Jones says the ads were mailed to voters in south and north DeKalb. Both men tell FOX 5 their records, not their ads, is what will ultimately sway DeKalb voters.
