Victim Of 'Slender Man' Stabbings Gets Purple Heart From Vet

Posted: Updated:

WISCONSIN-It's a story that made national headlines, following the arrest of two 12-year-old Wisconsin girls after they allegedly stabbed a fellow classmate 19-times. All because they wanted to please a fictional character.

The victim miraculously survived the attack and continues to recover.

The family says the girl has received thousands of purple hearts from around the world as a sign of support.

But recently, she received a very special Purple Heart, a military Purple Heart.

A veteran anonymously sent a Purple Heart to the victim and wrote in a card "The only heart I could find -- be strong."

The Purple Heart is a decorated award given by the president to those killed or wounded while serving our country.

The family says they would like to thank the veteran for the gift and also for the sacrifice the service member made for our country.
