Man found dead in Redford after leaving nearby pool party

REDFORD, Mich. (WJBK) - A 24-year-old man was shot and left to die in a Redford neighborhood.

"It's kind of shocking just the way it happened. It was just boom boom boom. ... We thought it was firecrackers at first," says Kevin Barnard. "And she goes, 'No, he's shot!' and we looked - and there he was."

They were looking at 24-year-old Gary Robinson of Detroit, a young man shot and killed on Winston Street late Tuesday night. It happened just a few doors down from a pool party at this home.

The pool party was ending around 11:45 p.m. People were leaving and Fox 2 is told Robinson was heading to his car.

"One kid was coming to his car, right here, and it looks like he got shot right in front of his car because his car was still running and the music was on, and someone came down from the block down there and actually turned the music down and went back," says Barnard.

The street is now stained with blood and covered with sand. Police were on scene all night and are now trying to find the suspect.

"The police officer [came] to the house and said that he had been robbed, or was being robbed," one neighbor tells Fox 2's Amy Lange.

"Looks like they shot him in the back of the head. He was just laying right, perfectly, on the side of his car," says Barnard.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or Redford police.
