Large two truck crash closes I-75, second accident nearby

A crash involving two semi trucks shut down I-75 tonight, according to Michigan State Police.

The accident, which caused one truck to rollover, occurred at northbound I-75 at Livernois at 7:27 p.m.

Michigan State Police say that the driver of one of the trucks was transported to an area hospital with moderate to severe injuries including broken bones, but is alert and conscious.

No further information is available on injuries to the other driver, but do not appear to be serious.

One lane of traffic was open between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., and a second lane was reopened by 8:30 p.m.

UPDATE: MDOT tells Fox 2 a second accident occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. This accident happened on the southbound side of I-75, also near Livernois. No word on details or injuries for this crash.

Crews were working to clear debris and investigate both crashes tonight.
