Police ID man found dead in lake at Phoenix park

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities have identified a man found dead in a lake at Cortez Park in northwest Phoenix.

Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump says the body of 40-year-old Christopher Chee was found Monday afternoon.

According to witnesses, Chee had been drinking alcohol and using methamphetamines at the park Sunday evening.

Crump says Chee was going into the lake when the witnesses left.

Police say there are no signs of foul play but a county medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

Police say his friend and brother were also at the park, which is located at 35th and Dunlap avenues.
