MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. -

It was a big day on Tuesday for three Montgomery County K9 officers. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office presented them with official law enforcement badges to clearly identify them as police K9s.

The ceremony was held at the Montgomery County Courthouse .

Last month, Pa. Governor Tom Corbett signed Rocco's Law, which recognizes four-legged officers as partners, and assigns a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison or a $25,000 fine for hurting or killing a police dog. The law was signed after the fatal stabbing of a Pittsburgh, Pa. K9 during an arrest.
