Michigan man speaks out after ProjectP party spirals out of control

Posted: Updated:
HINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- James Taylor says it's a party for the record books and believes he successfully threw the largest party ever to hit west Michigan.

He tells Fox 17 Saturday night started out as a planned birthday party for a friend, but the party quickly grew to more than 2,000 people.

Taylor says his home got so crowded people couldn't move from one room to the other, and the floor boards were shaking from all the extra weight.

The Mecosta County Sheriff's Office says at least 2,000 people, many of them under 21 years old, attended the party. Authorities say at least six people overdosed on drugs and a sexual assault of a 19-year-old Mount Pleasant woman was reported.

One neighbor says a suspected drunk driver from the party drove into her home.

FOX 17 asks Taylor, "What do you say to anyone who says you are responsible?"

"I am. It's my house," answered Taylor. "You got to deal with it afterwards, but apparently it was worth it."
