FDA issues warning for tattoo parlors and customers about dangerous ink

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - The Food & Drug Administration is warning tattoo parlors and customers that some tattoo ink may not be safe.

The agency issued the warning after a recall in July by White & Blue Lion inc. after testing found bacterial contamination in bottles of ink.

FDA officials say at least one skin infection was linked to the recalled ink and they are aware of other reports of infections linked to ink.

The bottles in the recall have a multi-colored Chinese dragon image and black & white lettering.

Experts say anyone getting a tattoo should talk with their artist and ask to see the bottles of ink.
