Phoenix carjacking victim speaks out about attack

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Phoenix Police are warning about a rash of strong armed robberies in north and east-central Phoenix.

The robberies are targeting elderly women in the middle of the day.

A senior citizen who was carjacked on July 24th is speaking out.

Patricia Iwasiuk is among the victims who they are targeting. "I heard this woosh, and then it's like he grabbed the door and opened it so fast, and he grabbed my purse," said Iwasiuk.

Investigators are investigating four strong armed robberies where senior citizens were injured.

Iwasiuk said she was leaving the dentists office when the predators targeted her. She said she entered her vehicle and put her purse on the passenger seat. Within moments the passenger door swung up and the thief reached for her purse. That's when Pat says fought back.

"I guess they figure I was an easy match, I couldn't fight back too much, but I tried," she said.

Whoever attacked Iwasiuk and stole her purse is still out there. "And you will get caught because you're not that smart, and I certainly will press charges if they find out who they are," said Iwasiuk.
