CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A southwest suburban man died early Sunday after police say he fell 18 floors at a Streeterville hotel.

Dawayne Grohs, 38, was found unresponsive about 3 a.m. after falling from the 22nd floor to the fourth floor of the Double Tree Hotel, 300 E. Ohio, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Grohs, of the 6100 block of Knoll Lane Court in Willowbrook, was dead at the scene, authorities said. Unconfirmed dispatch reports said he fell from a window.

An autopsy performed Sunday found Grohs died of multiple injuries from a fall, with alcohol intoxication listed as a secondary cause. His death was ruled an accident.
