2 injured during Mesa house fire

Posted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. - Two people were injured after escaping from a first alarm home fire near Stapley and Main.

Firefighters say it appears the fire started in a carport and spread to the home.

12 fire trucks and 40 firefighters responded to the fire.

Mesa Fire Capt. Bob Tribbensee says eight people were in the home as it was burning, but they were all able to escape on their own.

According to Tribbensee, two people were brought to a hospital with burns. Their conditions haven't been released.

Fire investigators are working on finding out what caused the fire.

Stapley from University to Main will be closed until crews clean up.
