Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, Stockard Channing, F. Murray Abraham, and Megan Mullally are just some of the names heading back to Broadway.

Legendary playwright and four-time tony winner Terrence McNally leads the all-star cast in the new Broadway play appropriately titled It's Only a Play.

Jack O'Brien is directing the ensemble cast.

The play is a comedic look at the behind the scenes of the theater industry on opening nights on Broadway.

The power duo behind the play agrees the show is about taking risks.

In this case art does imitate life

It's Only a Play doesn't officially open until October 9, but previews start August 28 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.

It has done really well so far. I believe pre-ticket sales are over $8 million.
