AURORA, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Two men tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into a vehicle as she walked to school Friday morning in west suburban Aurora.

The girl was on her way to school about 8 a.m. when a red four-door vehicle pulled alongside her at Illinois Avenue and Grand Street and a passenger motioned and yelled for her to come over, according to a statement from Aurora police. The girl immediately ran to a nearby friend's house to report the incident.

Police described the vehicle as being in “beater condition.” Both the driver and the passenger were described as black men in their 30s, and the passenger was wearing a black T-shirt and had a mustache and goatee, police said.

Police believe the vehicle has been in the area before and ask that anyone with information about the incident contact investigators at (630) 256-5500. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
