CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The coaches and players on the Jackie Robinson West Little League All-Star team were honored Saturday by the Chicago White Sox.

A final hurrah before going back to school and each player on the Jackie Robinson West Little League All-Star team soaked it all up.

One by one, they stepped onto U.S. Cellular Field to a standing ovation as the Chicago White Sox honored the young champions in a pre-game presentation.

Each player received a White Sox backpack filled with school supplies and a personalized White Sox jersey signed by the 2014 White Sox roster.

The Sox also presented the U.S. Little League champions with a $20,000 check.

But priceless?

Surely, running the bases and seeing their “day one” supporters including family, cheering them on in the stands.

“It's so fun and I'm speechless,” said DJ Butler who plays centerfield.

“Thanks for the support and just thank you,” said Butler.

Butler echoed the sentiment shared by his teammates and father Coach Darold Butler.

Humble and thankful.

“It's a beautiful feeling to see these guys get honored the way they've been honored and I'm glad they're having fun. A lot of smiles, I was hoping they would ask the coaches to run around the bases. I wanted to show my speed but they didn't ask me but I'm happy for the guys, I really am,” said Coach Butler.

Chicago and beyond is proud including South Bend's Kevin Baderdeen.

“You couldn't help but notice how they took the nation by storm right off the bat and being an American, you love to follow them and you root for them the whole way, it was awesome,” said Baderdeen.

So what's next?

Chicago White Sox and Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf said it best.

“I'm so happy for these kids, it's been an exciting time but now, reality is going to sink in, they've got to go to school,” Reinsdorf.

Jerry Reinsdorf says the White Sox plan to stay in touch with the Jackie Robinson West All-Star team. After all, six of the players are in the White Sox ACE program which runs through 18 years old. The program introduces African American youth to baseball and 84 of its alumni have received college scholarships since it started in 2007.
