Drives in Atlanta will want to pay attention to some new detours going into place this week along Spring Street.
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Department of Transportation will be starting to replace the 92-year-old Spring Street viaduct over the CSX railroad in downtown Atlanta. The project will close portions of Spring Street for the next year or so.
Starting Tuesday, Spring Street from Mitchell to Marietta streets as well as Martin Luther King Jr. Drive between Forsyth and Spring streets will be closed with posted detours.
The $20.6 million project is expected to require 36 months to complete and is scheduled to open in November 2016.
