Child, 3, hospitalized after falling from second-story window

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) - A 3-year-old child  is receiving treatment at St. John hospital after falling from a second-story window in Detroit this weekend.

The boy's parents were not home but neighbors sprang into action.

The second story window of a house on the east side at Frankfort and Courville was left open, the opening just large enough for the child to fall through.

"He hit face first, heard the big boom when he hit the porch," said neighbor Destiny Grote. "His face was bloody and he had a big bone sticking out of his hand."

Neighbors comforted the child and alerted his guardian.

A girl, 6, and the boy, 3, were home with their grandmother while their parents were moving into the house.

Luckily for the child who fell, one of the adults nearby who helped was a nurse.
